OK.As you see, IE7 does not display a SEF-path, but the problem remains even if I disable SEF and flushes the caches. For what it's worth: I am running the site myself so I do have 'control' (but still I am quite fresh at this). The site is offline until the security has been hardened some more, so all INET browsers are complaining about my self-signed certificate due to site naming mismatch (I am running through a custom port, activated by Apache/httpd.conf - not Joomla!), but everything else I do work fine. IE7 is my browser of choice in this context, so it has been doing all the hard work - and it is working fine except for this one point. The firewall is set at max paranoia (AFAIK) and tuned to what the server delivers, but disabling the firewall completely makes no difference.Configurations:Serverside:- Joomla!
V1.5.22- FTP from inside Joomla! Is not activated, but FTP (that is sftp) is working fine to/from the server.- All three SEF-settings are activated, but I am not using.htaccess - I load the details through vhosts.conf as recommended by Apache (primarily for performance reasons, and it enables me to disable the use of.htaccess completely)- JoomGallery v1.5.6- ImageMagick v6.6.1.0-4.1.1I do not have any other components/modules/pluhins except for JRPpassphrase which I activated, then disabled - but it is still there. It worked fine while activated. I have been looking at this even more. Now I am able to dowload files from the server using my custom SSL ports also when using IE (any version; = IE6, IE7 and IE8). The files in question being both the very same files that fails from within JoomGallery as well as other files.
No difference in behaviour. However, that is from outside of JoomGallery. I have tried both from outside of Joomla!
Entirely (handwritten XHTML), and from within a native Joomla! JoomGallery still refuse to deliver pictures to IE, but is happily serving FireFox and Opera.I know that IE differs from other browsers in many ways, and that most manufacturers are adapting to these oddities. I also know that SSL has an IE exception handling, so do Joomla! For IE in general and IE7 in particular. Does JoomGallery do anything of the sort as well?
Or is the problem that it isn't being done?By the way: I am using the BEEZ template for my Joomla! Site. So, I feel I am as certain as I can be about having this narrowed down to JoomGallery without being a PHP/Java programmer myself, and without anybody knowledgable asking me questions I can answer to dig further into the matter. Is the above detailed enough to file a bug report? My schedule isn't too tight with this, but I need this solved. Either from within Joomla!/JoomGallery or I have to find myself another component to use. It would be a pity though, JoomGallery seems felxible enough to take on most tasks.
This first task is not very complicated, so I suspect most any gallery product will suffice for now.PS: During my work in this matter, I also installed a Norwegian language pack fro JoomGallery. I'm sorry to say - the one available for download is (apart from the newer parts that are still in English) mostly Swedish!
I cannot present such language to the world and pretending it to be Norwegian!Luckily, JoomGallery isn't big when it comes to human language, so I translated the most visible parts my self. I'll have a proper look into the language files later on and will offer my translation as an alternative to the present Norwegian one.Logged. OK, I have performed a few more experiments. To sum up:. Using any browser in my possesion (see above) all allow downloading pictures from JoomGallery (or from elsewhere) if the standard, open HTTP-protocol is used.
IE of any version (i.e. 6, 7 and 8 ) will fail to download pictures from JoomGallery if HTTPS (SSL) is in effect.
This goes for any ports used - custom (as I mention above) and the regular 443. IE will download other files or the same pictures stored in the same location where they fail from within JoomGallery if a pointer is made to them either from inside a simple Joomla! Article or from a straight-forward handcoded XHTML-file - and being under control of HTTPS/SSL. Any browser NOT being IE that I have used are always able to download pictures from JoomGallery (as well as otherwise) with no regard to protocol or port in use.So, my impression is that this is a JoomGallery bug. Am I the only one experiencing this?LoggedPages: 1.
